From St. Imier over the Chasseral to the Taubenloch Gorge Link to heading

In the morning, we took the train to St. Imier. Shortly after setting out, we entered the quiet forest — mist, damp leaves, and the gentle rustling of trees created an almost mystical atmosphere.

After a steady but pleasant ascent, we reached the ridge and soon after the Chasseral (1,606 m a.s.l.). At the top, the view opened up to an endless sea of fog, with the Alps glowing in the distance — an unforgettable moment.

Panorama

At the Hotel Chasseral, we enjoyed a warm coffee and a small snack before beginning the long but relaxed descent. The sun accompanied us almost the entire way.

The trail led us through a varied landscape of forests, meadows, and pastures, with beautiful views into the valley and across the Jura hills. Eventually, we reached the entrance to the Taubenloch Gorge, where the sound of rushing water and steep rock walls made for an impressive finale.

The path through the gorge descends gently down to Biel — a fitting conclusion to this tour. At the end, we took the bus and train back to Solothurn, tired but content after a wonderful day of hiking.
